What garage door features and accessories are available?

C & M Garage Doors are all about making your life easier and more convenient. With an extensive range of garage accessories, specifically designed to enhance your current set-up, and as the exclusive supplier of B&D doors, C&M are here to help pimp your garage, with some of our favourite accessories. If one takes your fancy, or you’d like more information about any of them, give us a call today, or we can come to you with our mobile showroom.

Insulation: With the extreme weather conditions we have in Australia year-round, insulating your garage can actually affect the temperature of your house, keeping it up to 20 degrees cooler in the summer and 10 degrees warmer in winter.  With ever-increasing electricity prices, insulating your garage is a cost-effective way, to not only reduce energy consumption, but also reduce outside noise.

Control-a-door smart: This enables complete security with a ‘Safe Lock’ anti-tamper system, meaning if an intruder attempts to break in, the garage will lock itself. The B&D app also gives you real time updates, plus you can open or shut the garage at anytime, anywhere. The app features voice control and customisation to add or remove users, so no-one else can tamper with it, leaving you with peace of mind and heightened security.

Other than the control-a-door smart having a high degree of anti-theft, it also has in-built safety features, such as an automatic reverse sensor that detects when something is obstructing the garage door, for example, a child or pet. If something is detected, it will then reverse and open, avoiding the obstruction. For an additional sleek and modern finish, you could also pair your smart garage door opener with a sectional pane lift garage.

Control-a-door secure: Like the control-a-door smart, this garage feature locks the garage if an intruder is detected, illuminating it to alert others and acting as a deterrent to potential break-ins. If you install a control-a-door secure, you’ll also be given two B&D Tri-Tran+ remotes. This cutting-edge technology enables only your approved remote to open your garage door, therefore preventing anyone else accessing your home. It also prevents encryption and potential hacking, as it transmits through three different frequencies.

Remotes: Have you recently lost or broken your garage remote? Has one of the kids dropped it in the toilet, or thrown it out of a moving car? However it happened, we can assist. Able to either replace, or assist you in choosing the ideal remote for your garage door needs, C&M are here to help .

C&M Garage Doors is committed to simplifying your life and keeping your garage secure, by offering garage door accessories designed for convenience and security. Contact us today to explore the possibilities of improving your garage experience.

What is the Difference between Sectional and Roller Doors?

Have you ever wondered about the difference between sectional and roller doors? Well, wonder no more! Here at C&M Garage Doors, we’re here to break it down for you.

First off, let’s talk about sectional doors. These doors are made up of several sections or panels that are hinged together. They open vertically and then slide back into the garage ceiling, allowing for more space in the driveway. They come in various styles and materials, from steel to timber to aluminium, and can be customized to fit your specific needs and aesthetic preferences.

On the other hand, roller doors are made up of a single sheet of steel that rolls up into a barrel located above the door. They’re also available in a range of colours and finishes and are often chosen for their space-saving design and easy operation.

So, which one is better? It all depends on your individual needs and preferences. Here are a few things to consider:

  • Space: If you’re tight on space in your driveway or garage, a roller door might be your best option. It doesn’t require as much overhead room as a sectional door.
  • Security: Both sectional and roller doors are secure options for your garage, but sectional doors tend to be more robust and offer more protection against break-ins.
  • Maintenance: Both doors can require some maintenance after a while, but roller doors tend to be simpler to maintain since they have fewer moving parts. Regular lubrication and cleaning will help keep your door in good working order.

At C&M Garage Doors, we offer both types of doors, as well as a wide range of other garage door solutions. We’re proud to be a leading supplier of B&D roller garage doors in Ballina and the surrounding areas. We offer a mobile showroom that comes right to your door, so you can see our products in person and get a better sense of what will work best for your home.

We also offer a free garage door measure and quote service, so you can get an accurate idea of your project’s cost before you commit. Our team of experts can handle every aspect of your roller door installation from start to finish, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Of course, once your roller door is installed, it’s essential to keep up with regular maintenance to ensure it stays in good condition. Our team offers B&D roller door maintenance services to keep your door functioning correctly and to catch any potential issues before they become significant problems.

So, whether you’re in the market for a sectional door or a roller door, C&M Garage Doors has you covered. We’re here to help you choose the best option for your needs and budget and to provide you with top-notch installation and maintenance services.

Why You Should Consider a Smart Roller Door: A Guide to Custom Roller Doors

Roller doors have been a popular choice for homeowners for many years. They provide easy access to the garage, while also offering protection and security for your vehicles and belongings. However, with advances in technology, roller doors are becoming smarter and more convenient than ever before. In this article, we’ll explore why you should consider a smart roller door, and how custom roller doors can enhance your home.

What is a Smart Roller Door?

A roller door is a type of garage door that opens vertically and rolls up around a drum. A smart roller door is a roller door that is equipped with advanced technology, such as remote operation, sensors, and automatic opening and closing features. These features allow for greater convenience, security, and safety for homeowners.

Do I Need a Smart Roller Door?

There are several reasons why you should consider investing in a smart roller door for your home. One of the main benefits is convenience. With a smart roller door, you can open and close the door remotely using a smartphone app, eliminating the need for physical keys or remotes. This feature is especially useful when you need to let someone in or out of the garage, but you’re not at home.

Another benefit of smart roller doors is security. With the ability to monitor your garage door remotely, you can ensure that your garage is always secure. Some smart roller doors come with built-in sensors that can detect when someone is trying to enter your garage without your permission and send you an alert. This feature can give you peace of mind when you’re away from home.

Smart roller doors also offer safety benefits. For example, some models come with built-in sensors that can detect if there is an obstruction in the door’s path, preventing the door from closing and potentially causing damage or injury. Additionally, some smart roller doors can automatically close after a set period, reducing the risk of leaving your garage door open.

One of our favourite applications is when the garage door is clad in the same material as the building’s exterior wall. As the door starts to close, it disappears before your eyes. Its unique design and flush façade is hard to beat when it comes to curb-side appeal. If you’re going to make a statement, the Flush Mount system is the way to go.

Custom Roller Doors

At C&M Garage Doors, we offer custom roller doors that can be tailored to your specific needs and preferences. Our custom roller doors are made from high-quality materials, and can be designed to match your home’s style and color scheme. We offer a wide range of options, including different sizes, colours, and finishes, as well as additional features such as insulation and security upgrades.

A smart roller door can offer many benefits for homeowners, including convenience, security, and safety. If you’re considering investing in a roller door, a smart roller door is definitely worth considering. Additionally, custom roller doors can be tailored to your specific needs and preferences, ensuring that your garage door perfectly complements your home’s style and functionality. Contact us at C&M Garage Doors to learn more about our custom roller door options.

Trend 2: The Wooden Look

This is a trend we are all here for… however, we understand the maintenance that usually comes with timber which can differ people from choosing this material! Luckily for you, our excellent suppliers at B&D Garage Doors have made achieving this vision super easy. Knotwood is one of our favourite materials for many reasons… its eco-friendly, timeless, safe, durable, and best of all, it looks like the real deal natural wood. Made from aluminium, knotwood is the perfect option for those seeking convenience, being rust-resistant and durable. Joints, screws, rivets, and fixings are also concealed within the design profile, meaning you can achieve a sleek, modern and sophisticated look. Now, who wouldn’t want that? Knotwood also comes in a wide range of powder coating colours; whether you want to achieve that light coastal oak look or a dark modern ashy style, we basically have it all!

Trend 3: Smart Roller Door

Have you ever left the house in a rush to work and thought, “oh no, did I shut the garage door?”… this year it may be time to invest in a smart garage door! Having a smart roller door means that at the touch of your fingertips, you can securely open and close your garage door anytime and anywhere. Using the app, you can access the camera view of your garage and receive real-time notifications on your smartphone when the door has been left open or obstructed, thus creating greater security and less stress for you and your family. The B&D Garage Door app also allows you to authorise specific users to operate the garage door and remove any you don’t! This means that when your teenagers come stumbling home late from a night on the town and lock themselves out, you can easily open the garage door from your bed or not…

For more information on this epic technological advancement, check out B&D’s ‘Smart Garage Door Openers’ page!

Trend 4: Farmhouse Vibes

This home design style is characterised by its rustic, country-inspired aesthetic. Garage doors that feature the farmhouse vibe are typically made from wood or other materials like our favourite knotwood and are designed to evoke the look and feel of a traditional barn or stable door. This style of door is perfect for homes that are located in rural areas or that have a country-style aesthetic. With a wide range of colours and materials, we can easily help you achieve this look and make it one that will fit your new or existing home!

B&D’s Panelift garage door model is one of the best in the game, and their upgraded Panelift Icon door really can’t get much better! This innovative product is designed to give homeowners a sleek and modern look while offering a range of features that make it easy to use and maintain. Trend 6: Sustainability

One of the biggest trends in 2023 is sustainability. With more homeowners becoming environmentally conscious, it’s no surprise that there is a growing demand for eco-friendly garage doors. These doors are made from sustainable, recyclable, and renewable materials. Brands like B&D Garage Doors offer a range of environmentally friendly options, such as steel and composite doors that are energy-efficient, durable, and low-maintenance.

2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year for garage doors, with various new trends and designs emerging to meet homeowners’ changing needs and tastes. The different types of doors

When considering installing commercial roller doors, there are essentially three main types of doors to consider.

Sectional Doors

Our most popular choice are the B&D P7 industrial sectional doors. Each sectional overhead panel door is constructed with a lightweight but sturdy aluminium frame with over 10 different options for panel inserts depending on your specific aesthetic and needs. Panel inserts range from clear or coloured acrylic, corrugated steel, air panel or aluminium slats. For complete customisation P7 Industrial can be installed with an aluminium finish or with a choice of over 100 powder coat colours. With heights ranging from 1370mm – 4500mm, widths from 1800mm – 7620mm and full automation options, sectional doors are a great option for carparks, kiosks, shopping centres and shopfronts.

Roller Doors

Industrial roller doors are a safe and economical option for your business, with a range of options to suite your varying needs. The G&D Roll-A-Door S1 Mini Warehouse line is most suited to storage centres, kiosks, mini warehouses and shop fronts. Doors range from 1250mm – 3000mm high and 940mm – 31500mm wide, all options are high wind rated, offer smooth and quiet operation and are fitted with precision springing and bottom weatherseal to keep out unwanted debris. B&D commercial roller doors in the Roll-A-Door Series 2 and The Roll-A-Door Series 3 Squareline ranges are ideal choices for larger spaces like warehouses, factories and sheds that require durable, strong and secure doors. We recommend the B&D Flex-A-Door range for client’s looking to replace an existing tilt door, have restricted headroom or have an unusual shaped entrance like archways. All range offer sleek profiles and have multiple customizable features including a vast colour range.

Shutter Doors

The last option for clients seeking commercial doors are shutters. With slotted, perforated and slat styles available, shutters can suit all matter of smaller spaces from arcades, shopfronts, trucks & vans, fire reel covers and bars to large spaces such as sporting complexes, secure parking structures and factories. This style of industrial garage door can be one of the most cost-effective options as individual slats or panels can be replaced in the case of damage. Made from a combination of aluminium and galvanized steel, the doors are built to last and offer high quality security to your business.

Security Considerations for your industrial garage door

In addition to your existing security systems, we recommend installing the B&D Controll-A-Door Secure system.  This is an automatic fast-opening system that will illuminate a large space below with an LED light allowing you enough light to find additional switches or locks. The Controll-A-Door Secure system act as a safe lock anti tamper system that will automatically lock your door should an intruder try to lift it and is covered by market leading 10-year warranty.

C&M Garage Doors are the longest established Northern Rivers garage door specialists, servicing Lennox Head and the entire region from Tweed Heads to Grafton. Launched in Alstonville by Matt Barber in 1994, before later being joined by his brother-in-law Chris Heinritzn, the pair have committed almost 20 years to high grade garage door installation and repairs.

C&M Garage Doors have become locally known as a leader in customer service and in 2004 became the North Coast’s only B&D Accredited Dealer. This accolade was the result of ten years of perseverance and dedication to B&D’s high standards and strict regulations of customer service and support.

In 2015 we moved to our state-of-the-art showroom, located just 15 minutes from Lennox Head at 7 Stinson Street, Ballina Industrial Estate. This allowed us the space to become a dedicated service centre, depot and central hub for the entire Northern Rivers region.

Garage Doors in Lennox Head

If you have driven around Lennox Head lately picking out your dream home, chances are you would have come across some of our handy work. Being a coastal town, the houses are exposed to harsh elements and salt air, this means we are often hard at work restoring older homes or helping clients choose the highest quality products to make sure they get the most out of their garage doors. With the new estates popping up between Lennox and Ballina, there is plenty of opportunity for our clients to choose from the wide range we have on offer and explore their creative flair by opting for custom garage doors.

Customer Garage Doors

Signature custom frame installed with the help of Hurf Build Design and Construct

We love when our customers come to us with ideas that are out of the ordinary and present us with unique challenges. This client opted for an aged wood cladding and wanted a door that would provide modern functionality and security but could also provide that aged, lived in look to suit the exterior of their home. For this particular job we installed a signature B&D Panelift frame that was finished with horizontal cladding by local builder, Hurf Build Design and Construct. The door not only fit perfectly into the client’s design brief but also provided them with strong, safe and reliable operation covered by a minimum of 3 years warranty.

The Flush Mount system is part of B&D’s Designer Door range for a reason. It exudes architectural B&D Garage Doors have become increasingly popular since they were first introduced to the Australian market. With over 60 fire resistant aluminum colours, finishes and countless customisation options such as insulation, bristle seals, storm guard wind protection and added bushfire protection there is no surprise that we see our customers opting for B&D time and time again.

B&D Grange Door in Dover White with Stockton Windows

These clients opted for a B&D Panelift Grange door with the Stockton window option to suite the coastal aesthetic of their home. They chose the popular B&D exclusive Colorbond tone Dover White that adds just enough depth as a mid-tone white to blend perfectly with coastal and Hamptons style homes.

B&D Sectional Garage Door – Nullarbor Panelift Door in Ironstone

A B&D sectional garage door was chosen by these Lennox Head clients in the Colorbond shade Ironstone. They opted for Nullarbor Woodgrain Textured Panelift door, adding a natural texture to offset the iron cladding on their home. The distinctive flat panels of B&D Panelift doors deliver a minimalist modern look that boast street appeal. These dark colours like Ironstone really pop when contrasted against lush green landscaping or paired with raw timber tones.

Danmar Garage Doors

Danmar Carriage Panel Door

Danmar Garage Doors are another high quailty range offered through C&M Garage Doors. They provide custom doors that are excellent value for money and allow you the freedom to design and express the individuality of your home at a price that suits your budget. This particular Lennox Head client opted for the Carriage Panel Door. The doors are constructed using 135mm vertical Vee-Joint panels attached to a strong aluminium frame, creating a tropical carriage-style feel. This client opted to customise their doors with fixed glass panes instead of the standard louvers and a cross beam design to suit their desired aesthetic. The Danmar Carriage Panel Doors typically come in 86mm Fully Sealed Hemlock boards as their standard colour but there is the ability to customize with a herringbone design and Western Red Cedar, Walnut, Rosewood and Ebony, Sella Brown and Black Ash colour options.

If you’re feeling curious or inspired, please reach out if you would like to discuss your options with one of our friendly staff or to book an at-home consultation with our mobile showroom.

The Most Popular Garage Door of 2021

2021 has been a busy year of installations, and (by far!) the most popular door among our clients has been the B&D Garage Doors Panelift. This sectional door model has always been a popular choice, so we’re not surprised. We installed Panelift and Panelift Icons (a premium model of this popular door) all around the Northern Rivers; from Ballina to Kingscliff, Lismore and Grafton and everywhere in between. This model’s classic design is timeless and comes with so many colours and profile designs to choose from which is why it’s such a favourite.

The B&D Panelift

B&D Garage Door’s Panelift model sets the standard for strong, safe and reliable operation year after year. It’s a top choice for many of our clients because it suits traditional and modern homes beautifully, and with an extensive range of colours and profile design options the door is completely customisable. We’ve transformed many homes and boosted curb-side appeal with the Panelift model.

The B&D Panelift Icon

The Panelift Icon is the standard Panelift model plus all the exciting enhancements. This includes Auto-Lock wireless technology, longer standard warranty, quieter operation and a wider range of colours and profiles to choose from. The Auto-Lock wireless technology is a big draw card for many of our clients because it automatically locks your garage door with a heavy-duty locking bolt, giving you peace-of-mind round the clock.

The Colour Range

The B&D Panelift garage door is made of a series of panels (hence the name). Each panel is made from Colourbond steel, and comes in a wide range of colours to choose from. The most popular colours with our clients are:

  • Dover White
  • Surfmist
  • Shale grey
  • Classic cream
  • Paperbark
  • Dune
  • Woodland grey
  • Deep ocean
  • Ironstone
  • Monument

If you’re after a more natural finish, the timber coat range is something to take a look at. With six hard-wearing finishes that have been specially developed to provide the natural look of timber on high quality steel, the Timber Coat range makes a great choice.

Profile Design

Once you’ve set your sights on a colour, next thing to think about is profile design. You may not realise how much this customisable feature can make a difference to your door. The Panelift model has three umbrella profile designs, and within each are several variations to explore. One of the most popular profile designs is the Modern Straight Line Seville and you can see why it’s favourite in the image below. It creates an illusion of slats and works great with timber coat colour range.

B&D Garage Doors

We are B&D Accredited Dealers, and in fact, we are the only B&D Accredited Dealers on the North Coast. So, what does that mean? B&D Garage Doors are Australian’s number one garage door manufacturers, and we work with their models to install, service and repair garage doors in homes all around the Northern Rivers and Tweed Shire. Recent Garage Door Installations in Goonellabah

Did you know that C&M Garage Doors install garage doors as far north as Kingscliff and as far south as Grafton? As the north coast’s only B&D Accredited Dealer, we proudly provide our products and services to most of Northern New South Wales, including Goonellabah. In fact, we’ve been installing garage doors in Goonellabah and its surrounding suburbs for almost two decades.

Based in Ballina

Way back in 1994, C&M Garage Doors established in Alstonville. In 2015, we made the move to the Ballina Industrial Estate which gave us enough space for a state-of-the-art showroom and dedicated service centre and depot. The move became a spring board into a whole new level of trading and ever since, we’ve only grown and expanded the business. Ballina has been a great move, and has put us right int the middle of the Northern Rivers, making a great base to work from.

We welcome everyone to visit the showroom to check out models of garage doors and talk to an expert design consultant in person. We’re only a 15-minute drive East from Goonellabah, located in the Ballina Industrial Estate at 7 Stinson Street.

Garage Doors in Goonellabah

If you live in Goonellabah and have a home that is in need of a new garage door, or perhaps an upgrade, C&M Garage Doors should be your first port of call. Goonellabah and its surrounding suburbs are one of our largest groups of customers, especially with the influx of people moving to the area. Quite a number of our most recent installations have been in Goonellabah, an up-and-coming suburb of the Lismore LGA which is rapidly growing in popularity.

B&D Panelift Garage Door

C&M are the only B&D Garage Door Accredited Dealer on the north coast, and the most popular model is the Panelift. The Panelift garage door is a sectional door, and can be customised with a range of different colours and profile designs. In Goonellabah, we install more Panelift garage doors than any other door.

In this recent installation in Goonellabah, our client chose design features to complement and enhance their traditional-style home. The colour of the door is Night Sky and it matches nicely with the roof tiles. We have found Night Sky to be quite a popular colour choice with many of our Goonellabah clients due to the traditional style of most homes in the area. Being dark, this colour has longevity and requires less cleaning to keep it looking presentable. The profile design on this garage door in Goonellabah is called Grange – that’s the rectangular pattern you see on the door. This door is textured too, and that’s thanks to the Wood grain texture of the Grange profile.

B&D Grange Panelift door in Night Sky, installed in Goonellabah

Another popular design combination we see a lot at the moment is the B&D Nullabor Panelift. It’s a contemporary and sleek door with clean panels giving the home a modern aesthetic. In the below recent installation in Goonellabah, the client chose to pair the Nullabor profile design with the colour Monument. The end result is stunning, and contrasts well with the colour of the house, the pebble driveway and soft greens of surrounding plants.

B&D Nullarbor Panelift in Monument, installed in Goonellabah

B&D Roll-A-Door Garage Door

The B&D Panelift is a sectional door. This means as the panels lift and open, they are stored along the top of the ceiling of the garage. Roller doors are different, and many of our clients choose them because they give you more storage space. Instead of taking up a real-estate along the ceiling of your garage, roller doors roll up (as the name suggests) onto themselves.

We’ve found that B&D’s Roll-A-Door model is also a popular choice of garage door with Goonellabah clients. Roller doors are usually less expensive than sectional doors, but often aren’t as aesthetically pleasing. The Neo Roll-A-Door was developed to bridge this gap. It’s a roller garage door that does not comprise space in your garage, and its profile design is very similar to many sectional garage doors on the market.

For example, see the recent Goonellabah installation of a Neo Roll-A-Door below. Our client chose the colour Macadamia Nutwood. The end result is a garage door with the convenience of a roller door, and the aesthetic of a sectional door.

B&D To You

We’ve recently expanded our business services to include a mobile showroom. We can visit you in the B&D To You van which has all the product samples you’d ever need to make a decision for your new garage door. It makes choosing the right garage door a simpler and more convenient process. We know visiting the showroom in Ballina isn’t always possible for our clients in Goonellabah and its surrounding suburbs, and if that’s the case for you, book an at-home consultation.

Our mobile showroom has also allowed us to extend our service area up into the Tweed, including Kingscliff, Cabarita, Casuarina and Pottsville.

Fell free to call us if you would like to discuss your options with one of our friendly staff.

Top 5 trends for Garage Doors in 2021

Whether it’s time for a new garage door, you’re wanting an upgrade or looking to add value with street appeal, there is a very wide range of options to choose from. From roller garage doors to sectional garage doors, to endless colour choices and design profiles, making the right choice can sometimes feel overwhelming. Not to worry, because we have seen a number of garage door trends evolve throughout the year, making your decision a little easier to make.

Auto-lock Security

More and more, customers are choosing Auto-Lock security for their garage door. Nothing says ‘modern’ more than the most up-to-date security technology. As the largest, external-facing door in your home, a garage door plays an important role in protecting your family and valuables. The Auto-Lock system sends a heavy-duty bolt through the guard rail each time it closes without the need for a key, giving you peace of mind. It’s no wonder we’ve seen this accessory increase in popularity.

Panelift is popular

The B&D Panelift garage doors are Australia’s most popular, and for good reason. They are reliable, durable and safe with traditional elegance and an extensive choice of colour and profile designs. We’ve always thought of this garage door as the ‘go-to model’ and our customers prove it; recently, the Panelift garage door model has been more popular than ever.

Sustainable Materials

With the rise of sustainable consumerism, more and more of our customers are interested in garage doors made with sustainable materials. The B&D Designer Door range offers an excellent environmentally friendly material: Prodema Prodex. With all the elegance of natural wood, Prodema Prodex is a unique natural timber product for façade cladding. It’s highly resistant to nature’s elements, making it an ideal option for your garage door.

Prodem Prodex is another eco-friendly wood-alternative. The product is made from raw forest material, managed in a socially and environmentally responsible way. Available for sectional door models, using this material give your home points in green building certification schemes such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology).

Natural Finishes

Natural aesthetic has always been a design trend and popular choice for garage doors, and it’s not going away. It’s timeless, complements natural surroundings and offers a sleek and sophisticated look to any home. Along the coast of Northern NSW, the most popular timber coat is in the colour ‘Merbau’, often added onto Seville Panelifts and Neo Roll-A-Doors.

“Hidden” Garage Doors

Subtlety is key these days, and we are seeing a growing number of modern builds integrate garage doors into the façade of buildings. Essentially, these garage doors are “hidden”, complementing modern architectural and design choices for homes. It’s a minimalistic approach and its always an exciting project for us to work on.

When you’re making decisions about your garage door, make sure you’re considering its 20 to 30 year lifespan and how your life might change between now and then. Choose models, colour, profile designs and materials with this in mind.
